Mario Lemina: Besiktas eye move for Galatasaray and Gabon midfielder

Mario Lemina, the Gabon international midfielder currently at Galatasaray, is being linked with a move across Istanbul to Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder is under contract at Galatasaray until 30 June 2028, but Besiktas are exploring the possibility of prising him away, with the chances of a deal currently rated at around 20%. Lemina is valued at about €4.5 million, a figure that would make him a relatively accessible target should Galatasaray show any willingness to negotiate.

Lemina has been a key part of a Galatasaray side that has dominated domestically, winning back-to-back Turkish league titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, and adding the Turkish Cup in 2024-25. His experience in the Super Lig is already substantial, with 59 appearances and over 4,000 minutes played in the competition.

The Libreville-born midfielder returned to Galatasaray in February 2025 from Wolves for a €2.5 million fee, having previously spent a loan spell at the club earlier in his career. Before moving to Turkey for a second time he amassed 145 Premier League appearances, as well as spells in Ligue 1 and Serie A, where he won two Italian titles and two domestic cups with Juventus.

Despite Besiktas’ interest, Lemina remains tied to a long-term deal at Galatasaray, who are under no contractual pressure to sell.
