KV Kortrijk sporting director explains decision to sign Shandre Campbell

KV Kortrijk Sporting Director Nils Vanneste has revealed that Shandre Campbell’s creativity, speed and attacking qualities were among the major factors behind the club’s decision to sign the South African midfielder from Club Brugge.

The Belgian side officially confirmed Campbell’s arrival on Monday night, handing the former SuperSport United player a fresh challenge at the Guldensporen Stadium after two seasons with Club Brugge.

Despite his young age, Campbell has already built valuable experience in Belgian football, and Vanneste believes the 21-year-old possesses the qualities needed to make a positive impact at Kortrijk.

The Sporting Director described the South African as a player who can bring a new dimension to the team’s attacking play, particularly through his pace, creativity and ability to provide depth in the final third.

“We are very proud to welcome Shandre Campbell to KV Kortrijk,” Vanneste said.

“With Shandre, we bring someone into the house who brings a lot of creativity, speed and depth. Despite his young age, he has already gained experience in 1A.”

Campbell’s arrival adds another exciting attacking option to Kortrijk’s squad, with the club hoping his direct style and technical ability will help strengthen their offensive approach.

The midfielder began his professional career at SuperSport United before earning a move to Club Brugge, where he continued his development and gained exposure at one of Belgium’s biggest clubs.

His progress also earned him recognition at international level, with Campbell included in the South African national team squad for the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, although he did not feature during the tournament.

Vanneste is now looking forward to seeing Campbell make his debut in Kortrijk colours and believes the youngster has the potential to become an important player for the club.

“We look forward to Shandre’s first minutes at the Guldensporen Stadium,” he added.

With Kortrijk backing Campbell’s talent and potential, the South African will now aim to justify the confidence shown in him as he begins the next chapter of his European career.
