Ibrahima Balde: Rodez AF forward linked with Ligue 1 move to Auxerre

France-Senegal forward Ibrahima Balde of Rodez AF is being linked with a summer move to Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre as the top-flight club explore options to strengthen their attack.

Balde, 23, is under contract at Rodez until 30 June 2028, meaning Auxerre would need to negotiate a fee with the Ligue 2 club if they decide to firm up their interest. The centre-forward is currently valued at around €2 million and has emerged as one of the more established attacking options in the second tier.

Born in Paris and eligible for both France and Senegal, Balde has built his reputation in Ligue 2, making 81 appearances and scoring 21 goals in the division. His form in the second tier has contrasted with limited exposure in Ligue 1, where he has featured only briefly with four top-flight appearances earlier in his career.

Balde joined Rodez on a free transfer from Lens in July 2024, signing a long-term deal that positioned him as a key figure in the club’s forward line. He had previously spent time on loan at FC Annecy from Lens, gaining further experience in Ligue 2 before returning to the northern club.

Any move to Auxerre would mark a return to the top flight for Balde after his short spell of Ligue 1 action, but his long contract and current status at Rodez give the Ligue 2 side a strong position in any talks over his future.
