Henry Onyekuru: Nigerian winger linked with Bursaspor move after Genclerbirligi exit

Nigeria winger Henry Onyekuru, currently without a club after leaving Genclerbirligi this summer, is being linked with a move to Turkish 1. Lig side Bursaspor.

The 29-year-old, who plays primarily as a left winger, became a free agent on 12 July 2026 following the end of his spell at Genclerbirligi, opening the door for negotiations without a transfer fee. Bursaspor are understood to be exploring the possibility of adding the former Super Lig title-winner to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

Onyekuru is no stranger to Turkey’s football landscape. Across his time in the Super Lig he has made 100 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 14 assists, establishing a consistent record in front of goal. His most notable spell came at Galatasaray, where he was part of the side that secured the Turkish league and cup double in the 2018-19 season.

The winger’s career has also included moves to Everton, Monaco, Olympiacos and Adana Demirspor, as well as a stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fayha, but his market value has since settled at around €1m, a figure that could make any potential deal attractive for a club operating outside the top flight.

Onyekuru has experience in European competition, featuring in both the Champions League and Europa League, and previously won the Belgian Super Cup with Anderlecht. For now, he remains unattached as talks over his next move continue, with Bursaspor among the clubs monitoring his situation.
