Mostafa Mohamed: Egypt striker linked with Pyramids FC return from Nantes

Egypt international striker Mostafa Mohamed is being linked with a move from FC Nantes to Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Premier League. The 28-year-old centre-forward, currently playing in France’s Ligue 2, is under contract with Nantes until 30 June 2027 but could be the subject of interest from the Cairo-based club as they look to add proven attacking options.

Mohamed joined Nantes on a permanent deal from Galatasaray on 1 July 2023 for a reported €5.75m fee after an initial loan spell, and is currently valued at around €3.5m. Any negotiations would therefore be expected to involve a substantial fee, with Nantes in a strong position to decide his future given the length of his contract.

The Giza-born forward has built up significant experience in European football, notably registering 25 goals in 119 Ligue 1 appearances before Nantes’ relegation. He previously impressed in Turkey with Galatasaray, scoring 15 times in 43 Super Lig matches, and also featured in both the Europa League and its qualifying rounds.

On the international stage, Mohamed was part of the Egypt side that finished runners-up at the 2021-22 Africa Cup of Nations and earlier top-scored with four goals as Egypt won the 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, underlining his pedigree in continental competition.

Pyramids FC would represent a return to Egyptian domestic football for the former Zamalek forward, who won the league title, cup and Super Cup during his time there before moving to Europe. For now, Mohamed remains a Nantes player with a year left until the final season of his deal, leaving the French club well placed to control any potential transfer this summer.
