Ismael Baouf: Rayo Vallecano eye move for SC Cambuur’s Morocco-Belgium defender

Ismael Baouf, the Morocco-Belgium centre-back currently at SC Cambuur, is being linked with a move to LaLiga side Rayo Vallecano as the Spanish club assess defensive options ahead of the new season.

Baouf, 19, has emerged as a target after establishing himself as a regular in the Netherlands, where Cambuur compete in the Eredivisie. He is under contract with the Dutch club until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal is likely to require a significant fee, with his current valuation standing at around €3 million.

Born in Charleroi and eligible for both Morocco and Belgium, Baouf has accumulated senior experience at a young age. Since stepping up to professional football, he has featured extensively in league action and cup competitions, including the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and KNVB Beker, building a profile that has drawn attention from outside the Netherlands.

The defender joined Cambuur from RSCA Futures in August 2025, having come through the youth systems at Charleroi and Anderlecht before moving into the Belgian second-tier setup. His progression since that switch has placed him among the more closely watched young centre-backs in his age group playing in the Dutch pyramid.

For now, Baouf remains a key part of Cambuur’s plans, tied to the club for another two seasons beyond the upcoming campaign. With his contract running to 2028, the Dutch side are in a strong position should Rayo Vallecano decide to firm up their interest in the 1.83m right-footed defender.
