Zambia striker Patson Daka closes in on Hamburg move
Zambia international Patson Daka is on the verge of joining Hamburger SV after reaching a full agreement with the Bundesliga club following his departure from Leicester City.
The 27-year-old striker is expected to complete his medical examination before signing a contract that will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Germany after four seasons in English football.
Daka became a free agent after his contract with Leicester City expired, allowing him to negotiate with clubs ahead of the new campaign.
Hamburger SV have now moved quickly to secure his signature as they prepare for their return to the Bundesliga.
The Zambian forward is expected to sign a two-year contract with the German club, with the agreement also including an option to extend his stay for a further year.
If the remaining formalities are completed as expected, Daka will be contracted to Hamburg until June 2027, with the possibility of remaining at the club until 2028.
The striker is currently undergoing his medical examination, which represents one of the final stages before the transfer is officially confirmed.
The move will see Daka return to German football after previously making his name in Austria with RB Salzburg before earning a move to Leicester City.
During his four-year spell in England, the striker represented Leicester across domestic and European competitions before becoming available on a free transfer at the end of his contract.
Hamburger SV have identified the experienced Zambia international as an important addition to their squad following the club’s promotion back to the Bundesliga.
His arrival would strengthen the club’s attacking options as they prepare for the challenge of competing in Germany’s top flight after securing promotion.
For Daka, the transfer offers the opportunity to begin a fresh stage in his career after leaving Leicester City and returning to a familiar football environment in the German-speaking region.
The striker will now look to re-establish himself in one of Europe’s leading leagues and provide Hamburg with additional firepower ahead of the new season.
The move also represents another significant milestone in Daka’s professional journey, with the Zambian forward aiming to make an immediate impact at a club eager to consolidate its place in the Bundesliga.
An official announcement is expected once his medical examination has been completed and the remaining contractual documents have been finalised.
