Elias Mokwana: South African winger at Esperance linked with move to MC Algiers

South African right winger Elias Mokwana, currently at Esperance in Tunisia, has been linked with a move to Algerian side MC Algiers as the North African summer market gathers pace.

MC Algiers are monitoring the 26-year-old after an impressive spell in Tunis, where he is under contract until 30 June 2027. Mokwana’s current market value is around €600,000, and any deal is expected to require a fee, with Esperance under no pressure to sell given the length of his contract.

Mokwana joined Esperance from South African club Sekhukhune in August 2024 and has since added silverware and continental experience to his CV. He helped Esperance secure the Tunisian league title in 2024-25 and also lifted the Tunisian Cup and Super Cup during his time at the club.

The winger has featured regularly in domestic and African competition, impressing in the CAF Champions League with three goals and two assists in eight appearances, form which has drawn attention from elsewhere in the region. He also returned from a loan spell at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem at the end of June 2026, giving Esperance fresh options on the right flank ahead of the new campaign.

At 1.75m and preferring to operate on the right of the attack, Mokwana offers a profile that MC Algiers are keen to add as they look to strengthen their wide areas. For now, he remains an Esperance player, with his future likely to depend on whether the Tunisian champions are prepared to cash in before his deal enters its final year.
