Glody Lilepo: Kaizer Chiefs’ DR Congo winger linked with move to Libya’s Swehly

DR Congo winger Glody Lilepo of Kaizer Chiefs is being linked with a move to Libyan Premier League side Swehly as interest grows in the 28-year-old’s form in South Africa.

Lilepo, who operates primarily as a right winger, has emerged as a potential target for the Libyan club despite being under contract at Chiefs until 30 June 2027. Any deal is likely to require a significant fee, with the player currently valued at around €700,000 following a rise in his stock over the past year.

The Kinshasa-born attacker joined Kaizer Chiefs from French side Valenciennes in January 2025 for a reported €500,000, and has since become a regular in the Betway Premiership. He has made 42 league appearances for the Soweto club, scoring 11 goals and adding five assists, underlining his importance in the final third.

Lilepo has also built a reputation in continental competition, notably scoring eight times in 16 CAF Champions League outings earlier in his career, form that is understood to appeal to Swehly as they look to strengthen in attack. Standing at 1.85m and favouring his right foot, he offers a combination of physical presence and direct wing play.

The forward helped Chiefs lift the Nedbank Cup in the 2024-25 season, adding silverware to his time in Johannesburg and further justifying the club’s investment since his arrival from Europe.

For now, Lilepo remains a Kaizer Chiefs player with a year-on-year rising market value and two years left on his deal, leaving the South African side in a strong position should Swehly decide to formalise their interest.
