Caleb Ekuban: Ghana forward linked with Serie A return at Monza

Caleb Ekuban, the Ghana and Italy-qualified centre-forward currently without a club after leaving Genoa, is being linked with a move to Serie A side Monza. The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer after his contract with the Ligurian club ended at the start of July, making him an experienced attacking option on the market for top-flight sides.

Monza are understood to be exploring a deal for Ekuban as they look to add depth in the centre-forward position ahead of the new Serie A campaign. With his current market value at around €1.2 million, the forward would represent a low-cost addition in terms of valuation, with only salary and bonuses to negotiate if talks progress.

Born in Villafranca di Verona and standing at 1.82m, Ekuban has accumulated more than 100 Serie A appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in Italy’s top flight. Before joining Genoa in 2021, he enjoyed a productive spell with Trabzonspor in Turkey, where he scored 20 league goals and was part of the side that won the Turkish Cup in 2019-20.

Ekuban’s career has also included time in England with Leeds United and stints in Albania’s Kategoria Superiore, where he produced an impressive 17 goals in 34 appearances earlier in his career. His experience across several European leagues and in European qualifying competitions is thought to be attractive to Monza as they weigh attacking reinforcements.

For now, Ekuban remains a free agent following his departure from Genoa on 1 July 2026, and any move to Monza would depend on formal negotiations turning initial interest into an agreement.
