Achraf Dari: Morocco defender at Al Ahly linked with Al-Shamal SC switch

Morocco centre-back Achraf Dari of Al Ahly is being linked with a move to Qatari Stars League side Al-Shamal SC as the Cairo club weigh up interest in the 27-year-old defender.

Dari, who is under contract with Al Ahly until June 2028, has emerged as a potential target for Al-Shamal as they look to reinforce their back line ahead of the new campaign. The Casablanca-born defender is currently valued at around €1.2 million, a fee that would represent a relatively modest outlay for a player with his continental pedigree.

Al Ahly signed Dari from French club Stade Brestois in August 2024 for €1.8 million, and he went on to help the Egyptian giants secure the league title in the 2024-25 season. He also featured in continental competition for the club, adding to a strong track record in African tournaments that includes a CAF Champions League triumph with Wydad Casablanca in 2021-22.

The defender briefly left Cairo on loan to Swedish side Kalmar FF in March 2026 before returning to Al Ahly at the end of that spell in June. His experience across Ligue 1, the Belgian Pro League, Sweden’s Allsvenskan and the Egyptian Premier League is thought to be part of the appeal for Al-Shamal as they assess defensive options.

Dari has made over 40 appearances in the CAF Champions League during his career, underlining the level of experience that any deal would bring to Qatar. For now, he remains an Al Ahly player with two years left on his contract as talks around his future continue.
