Bologna sign Niger-Spain defender Rahim Alhassane from Real Oviedo in €3.5m deal

Bologna have signed Niger-Spain left-back Rahim Alhassane from Real Oviedo in a €3.5 million transfer. The 24-year-old swaps Spain’s LaLiga2 for Serie A, becoming the latest defensive addition to the Italian club’s first-team squad.

Alhassane arrives in Italy on a permanent move after establishing himself at Oviedo, where he has been deployed primarily on the left side of defence. His switch to Bologna marks his first move into one of Europe’s top five leagues and a significant step up in competition.

Born in 2001 and eligible for both Niger and Spain, Alhassane adds versatility and energy on the flank, with Bologna targeting reinforcement at full-back ahead of the new season. His market value had been assessed at around €1.5 million, underlining that Bologna have invested a substantial fee to secure his services compared with his previous valuation.

The transfer also represents a notable outbound deal for Oviedo, who lose a starting left-back to a higher division after his performances in Spanish football drew attention from abroad. Having developed his game in Spain, Alhassane now faces the challenge of adapting to the tactical demands and defensive rigour of Serie A.
