Yannick Semedo: Cape Verde-Portuguese midfielder linked with shock move to Nam Dinh FC in Vietnam

Cape Verde-Portuguese midfielder Yannick Semedo, currently without a club after leaving Farense this summer, is being linked with a move to V.League 1 side Nam Dinh FC.

Semedo, 30, became a free agent on 1 July after his contract with Portuguese outfit Farense ended, opening the door to an overseas switch for the first time in his senior career. Nam Dinh are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to add experience in central midfield ahead of the next V.League 1 campaign.

The Praia-born midfielder has built his career in Portugal, with his most prominent spell coming at CD Santa Clara, where he was part of the side crowned champions of the Portuguese second tier in 2024. Across his time in Liga Portugal 2, he has made 86 appearances, registering three goals and eight assists, underlining his familiarity with a competitive, physical league.

Semedo’s stock has also been helped by recent involvement on the international stage. At the 2026 World Cup he featured twice, contributing one assist, further raising his profile as he weighs up his next move.

A brief loan at Vizela in the 2024-25 season preceded his permanent switch to Farense, but with his market value now listed at €250,000 and no transfer fee required, the midfielder represents a financially accessible option for clubs outside Europe. For now, Semedo remains unattached and assessing offers, with talks over a potential agreement with Nam Dinh FC yet to progress to a decisive stage.
