Afner Ca: Newcastle United Linked With Move for Guinea-Bissau-Born Forward from U21 Ranks

Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Guinea-Bissau and Portugal youth forward Afner Ca, who is currently on the books of Newcastle U21 and is registered as a centre-forward.

The 19-year-old, born in Bissau and standing at 1.92m, has been associated with Newcastle’s under-21 side since joining from Levante U19 on a free transfer on 20 July 2026. The latest rumours suggest the Premier League club are weighing up his longer-term role within the senior set-up, with Ca listed as moving from being without a club into the Newcastle structure.

Ca, a left-footed striker whose main position is through the middle, has developed across youth systems in Portugal and Spain. He first appeared in Amora’s youth ranks, progressing from the under-17s to the under-19s in 2024, before earning a switch to Levante U19 in July 2025, again on a free. His subsequent move to Newcastle’s under-21 team a year later continued that pattern of cost-free recruitment.

While detailed senior statistics are not yet established for Ca, his inclusion within Newcastle’s U21 group underlines the club’s willingness to look to continental youth markets for attacking depth. His dual nationality, with ties to both Guinea-Bissau and Portugal, ensures he remains eligible for multiple international pathways as his career develops.

Ca’s current situation is framed by his recent arrival at Newcastle’s under-21 side, with no contract expiry date publicly indicated, leaving his longer-term future at St James’ Park still to be defined amid growing speculation over a possible step towards first-team contention.
