Noah Atubolu: Freiburg and Germany-Nigeria goalkeeper linked with Juventus move

Noah Atubolu, the Germany-Nigeria goalkeeper currently at Freiburg, is being linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus as the Italian club explore options to strengthen their long-term goalkeeping plans.

The 24-year-old, who wears the No.1 shirt for the Bundesliga side, is under contract until 30 June 2027, meaning Freiburg are in a strong position should formal talks materialise. Atubolu is valued at around €25 million, a figure that would require a significant outlay from Juventus if they decide to press ahead with a bid.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau and standing at 1.90m, Atubolu has come through the ranks at his hometown club, progressing from youth level to SC Freiburg II before being promoted to the first team in July 2021. He has since established himself in the senior set-up, with his performances earning recognition at national level and individual acclaim, including the Fritz Walter Bronze Medal in 2023.

Atubolu was part of the Freiburg squad that reached the German Cup final in the 2021–22 season, finishing as runners-up, further raising his profile in Germany and abroad. His development in the Bundesliga has drawn interest from clubs monitoring emerging goalkeepers across Europe, with Juventus now among those credited with an interest.

Freiburg have previously shown reluctance to lose key academy products before the end of their contracts, and Atubolu’s deal running to 2027 means any transfer is likely to depend on a substantial offer and the player’s willingness to take the next step in his career.
