Jean‑Luc Dompe faces uncertain future at HSV

Jean‑Luc Dompe’s situation at Hamburger SV is becoming increasingly difficult, with little sign of a sporting turnaround for the French winger.

According to Bild, the 30‑year‑old no longer ranks among the preferred options of head coach Merlin Polzin.

That hierarchy was clear in HSV’s first pre‑season friendly against Rapid Wien, a 3-2 defeat. Dompe only came on in the 77th minute, receiving far fewer minutes than most teammates and underlining his current status in the squad. Club officials are also said to be unhappy with his fitness values after returning from holiday, and his performances in training so far have not changed the picture.

As a result, a departure this transfer window is considered a realistic outcome. Bild reports that both HSV and the player’s camp are open to a move, and informal talks are already taking place behind the scenes.

However, there are currently no concrete offers or clearly identified suitors, leaving Dompe in a kind of limbo as preparations for the new season continue. Unless he can quickly convince Polzin and the coaching staff, the once‑important attacking outlet may find that his future lies away from the Volksparkstadion.
