Senegal striker Mame Alassane Niang set to join FC Porto from HamKam

Senegal striker Mame Alassane Niang has arrived in Portugal to complete his move to FC Porto after the Portuguese club reached an agreement with Norwegian side HamKam for his transfer.

The 20-year-old forward is expected to finalise his switch to the Dragons after impressing during his time in Norway, where his performances have attracted interest from one of Portugal’s biggest clubs.

According to Portuguese publication Maisfutebol, FC Porto have agreed a deal with HamKam worth an initial €1.6 million for the Senegalese attacker.

The agreement also includes the possibility of a further €700,000 in performance-related bonuses, as well as a 15% sell-on clause for the Norwegian club.

Niang developed his football skills at Senegalese academy Diambars, one of the country’s most recognised youth development centres, before leaving the Saly-based institution in 2024 to continue his career abroad.

The striker moved to Norway in search of further development opportunities and initially joined Lyn before later making a name for himself at HamKam.

His performances in the Norwegian league have helped him emerge as one of the promising young forwards from Senegal. This season, Niang has scored six goals in 11 appearances, a run of form that reportedly convinced FC Porto to make an investment in his potential.

The Portuguese club see the young forward as a player who can continue to develop within their structure. Niang is expected to begin his career at Porto with the reserve side as he adapts to his new surroundings and competes for a pathway into the senior team.

The Senegalese striker will work under the guidance of head coach Francesco Farioli’s first-team setup as he looks to make progress and eventually earn opportunities with the senior squad.

For Niang, the move represents another important step in his career after progressing from the Diambars academy to European football.

His performances in Norway have now earned him the chance to continue his development at a club with a strong reputation for nurturing young talent.

FC Porto have regularly invested in emerging players from different markets, and Niang’s arrival adds another young prospect to their squad as the club continues to build for the future.
