Nicholas Kasozi: Uganda midfielder joins Kitara on free transfer from Kagera Sugar

Uganda midfielder Nicholas Kasozi has joined Uganda Premier League side Kitara on a free transfer from Tanzanian club Kagera Sugar. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract with the Hoima-based club running until 30 June 2028.

Kasozi returns to Ugandan domestic football after a spell in Tanzania, where he moved in July 2023 from KCCA FC. His arrival bolsters Kitara’s midfield options as they prepare for domestic and continental commitments.

Capable of operating in the holding role at the base of midfield, Kasozi has experience in both the Uganda Premier League and on the African stage. He has already featured in the CAF Confederation Cup, making two appearances and accumulating just over 100 minutes of game time in the competition.

Before his move to Tanzania, Kasozi spent several seasons with Kampala giants KCCA FC, having joined them from SC Villa Jogoo in 2018. That period established him as a recognised figure in Ugandan top-flight football and gave him exposure to continental club competitions.

Born on 11 January 1995, Kasozi adds an experienced presence to Kitara’s squad as they look to build on recent progress. His deal ties him to the club for the next two seasons, confirming a long-term commitment to the Uganda Premier League side.
