Rafael Leao: Portugal Winger at AC Milan Linked with Big-Money Chelsea Move

Rafael Leao, the Portugal international forward currently at AC Milan, is being linked with a summer move to Premier League side Chelsea. The London club are understood to be monitoring the 27-year-old closely, with his contract at San Siro running until 30 June 2028 and his current valuation around €50m.

Leao has been one of Milan’s standout attacking players in recent seasons, operating primarily from the left wing but cutting inside onto his right foot. Since arriving from Lille in August 2019 for a fee of €49.5m, he has made 227 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring 64 goals and providing 50 assists, underlining the level of end product that has brought him to the attention of leading Premier League sides.

Chelsea’s interest comes as Leao continues to feature prominently on the international stage. He played in all five of Portugal’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, contributing a goal and an assist, and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Nations League in 2025.

Leao’s importance to Milan was recognised when he was named Serie A Player of the Year for the 2021-22 campaign, a season in which the club won the Italian title. He has since added the Italian Super Cup to his honours, reinforcing his status as a key figure in Stefano Pioli’s squad.

With Milan under no immediate pressure to sell given the length of his deal, any approach from Chelsea would likely require a substantial offer to persuade the Serie A club to part with their No.10 before 2028.
