Tatenda Tavengwa: Zimbabwe Midfielder Linked with Kruger United Move from Venda

Zimbabwean midfielder Tatenda Tavengwa of Venda is being linked with a switch to Betway Premiership side Kruger United as the top-flight club look to strengthen their options in defensive midfield.

The 29-year-old, who operates primarily as a holding midfielder and favours his right foot, has emerged as a potential target for Kruger United ahead of the new campaign. Initial indications of interest surfaced on 19 July, with discussions understood to be at an exploratory stage rather than an advanced negotiation.

Tavengwa has been on the books of Venda Football Club since July 2022, when he joined from CAPS United. During his time with the South African outfit he has featured in domestic cup competition, making three appearances in the Nedbank Cup and clocking up 238 minutes. His role at Venda has been focused on screening the back line from midfield, a profile that aligns with Kruger United’s search for greater stability in the centre of the pitch as they prepare for Betway Premiership action.

A move to Kruger United would represent a step into South Africa’s top tier for Tavengwa after several seasons in the lower divisions. While there is no indication yet of an agreed fee or personal terms, the 29-year-old’s situation at Venda is being monitored as clubs firm up their squads.

For now, Tavengwa remains a Venda player, with his future expected to become clearer as Kruger United decide whether to translate their interest into a formal offer.
