Jeremy Agbonifo: Lens’ Swedish-Nigerian winger linked with Jagiellonia move

Jeremy Agbonifo, the Swedish-Nigerian right winger currently at Lens, is the subject of interest from Polish champions Jagiellonia in a potential Ekstraklasa switch. The 20-year-old is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2028, so any deal would require agreement with Lens rather than a free transfer.

Jagiellonia’s move comes after a year in which Agbonifo has been frequently on the move. Lens signed him from BK Hacken in July 2025 for a reported €6.5m, reflecting his rapid rise in Scandinavia, and then sent him on loan spells to Basel and back to Hacken during the 2025-26 campaign before he formally returned to the French side at the end of last season.

Agbonifo, a left-footed attacker who operates from the right, has featured in Ligue 1 for Lens as well as in European competition during his recent loans. Across domestic league appearances he has shown flashes of end product, including goals in Sweden’s Allsvenskan and in continental qualifiers, where he scored three times in five UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying matches.

Born in Gothenburg in October 2005, Agbonifo has already experienced top-flight football in Sweden, France and Switzerland, along with group-stage minutes in the Europa League. He also has a Swedish Cup win on his CV from 2025 with Hacken, a campaign that helped elevate his profile beyond Scandinavia.

With his current market value around €4m and several years left on his deal, Lens are under no immediate pressure to sell, and discussions remain at the rumour stage as Jagiellonia explore the possibility of adding the winger to their Ekstraklasa title-winning squad.
