Babacar Sarr: Senegal midfielder joins Ittihad Tanger on free transfer from JS Kabylie

Senegal midfielder Babacar Sarr has joined Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger on a free transfer from Algerian club JS Kabylie. The 28-year-old defensive midfielder moves across North Africa into the Botola Pro Inwi after leaving the Ligue 1 outfit.

Sarr strengthens Ittihad Tanger’s options at the base of midfield, arriving with experience from Algeria’s top flight. The deal sees the club add a player whose market value stands at around €500,000 without paying a transfer fee.

The move also underlines the growing traffic of players between Algeria and Morocco, with Sarr swapping JS Kabylie, one of Algeria’s most recognised clubs, for a side competing in Morocco’s highest division. His role is expected to centre on screening the defence and adding stability in front of the back line.

Sarr had been with JS Kabylie in Algeria’s Ligue 1 before making the switch to Tanger. The transfer gives him the opportunity to test himself in a new league while remaining within the North African football landscape.

Ittihad Tanger have now completed the signing of Sarr as a free agent, adding the Senegalese midfielder to their squad for the new Botola Pro Inwi campaign.
