Patson Daka: Zambia striker linked with Hamburg move after Leicester exit

Zambia striker Patson Daka, currently without a club after leaving Leicester City, is being lined up for a move to Bundesliga side Hamburg. The 27‐year‐old centre-forward is understood to be in talks over a potential deal, with the likelihood of a transfer currently rated at 68%.

Daka became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following his departure from Leicester, where his market value has most recently been assessed at around €3m. Hamburg are exploring the possibility of signing him without a transfer fee as they look to strengthen their attack for the new Bundesliga campaign.

The forward enjoyed the most prolific spell of his career at Red Bull Salzburg before joining Leicester in 2021 for a reported €30m fee, at a time when his value peaked at €22m. His final season in Austria brought a league title and a top-scorer award in the Bundesliga in 2020‐21, underlining the level that attracted Premier League interest.

Daka has also built a strong reputation with Zambia, having been named Player of the Tournament at the 2017 U20 Africa Cup and finishing as top scorer in Africa Cup of Nations qualification in 2019‐20.

Hamburg’s interest comes as the German club look to add proven goal threat and experience at the top level, with Daka’s honours including an English Super Cup win and an English second-tier title with Leicester. With no contract currently tying him down, the Zambia international is free to negotiate directly with Hamburg as discussions continue over his next move.
