The Algerian Football Federation decided to terminate the duties of coach Djamel Belmadi, who led the Algerian national football team, confirming that negotiations are underway with a new coach for Riyad Mahrez’s teammates, as stated in an official statement released on its website.
The Algerian Federation’s statement confirmed the formalization of ending the tasks of the coaching staff directly upon their return to Algeria, following the agreement concluded in Bouake, Ivory Coast, with the exception of coach Djamel Belmadi.
He reneged on the agreement reached, citing dissatisfaction with the financial aspect.
The Algerian Federation’s statement continued to detail what happened, stating, “After four days since the return of the delegation from Ivory Coast and giving Coach Belmadi an additional period for consideration, the federation did not receive any response from him.
However, he surprised everyone by leaving the country and heading to Qatar. This act was considered by the football authority as a clear rejection of the oral agreement reached in Bouake, Ivory Coast.”
In the same context, the Algerian Football Federation clarified that it has definitively closed the chapter on Belmadi, who is no longer the coach of the Algerian national team.
It revealed that the process of searching for a new coach has begun, and the announcement is expected soon.
Coach Djamel Belmadi expressed dismay at the Algerian Football Federation’s statement and wondered about the officials’ obstinacy and how they shocked him with a strange statement he did not expect.
Belmadi considered that many of the matters mentioned in the statement were supposed to remain confidential.
He confided to his close associates that he did not expect the Algerian Football Federation to take such a step, presenting him as the sole wrongdoer in what happened to the Algerian national team.
Therefore, he finds it difficult to accept what the Algerian Football Federation has done, no matter what the justification is.
He completely rejects being held fully responsible without others.
On the other hand, a source within the Egyptian Football Association revealed the latest developments in negotiations with Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, regarding the termination of the contract and resolving the crisis of the release clause in his contract with the Egyptian Football Association.
The Egyptian Football Association offered Vitoria a sum of $300,000 for an amicable departure, indicating that the amount is divided between $200,000 as the January salary and an additional $100,000 from the value of the release clause.
However, Vitoria categorically rejected relinquishing any amount from the value of the release clause, insisting on receiving $800,000, which includes the January salary and the full release clause.
It is worth noting that there are seven members of the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association who have agreed on Vitoria’s departure, supported by the Ministry of Sports. Meanwhile, two members of the council insist on his stay and completing his mission…
