Christian Nwachukwu: Sheffield United’s Nigerian winger linked with Maccabi Netanya move
Christian Nwachukwu, the Nigerian left winger currently at Sheffield United, is being linked with a move to Israeli top-flight side Maccabi Netanya. The 20-year-old, who is under contract at Bramall Lane until 30 June 2027, is attracting interest from the Ligat ha’Al club as they assess wide options for the new season.
Nwachukwu returned to Sheffield United this summer following a loan spell with Turkish side Serik Spor during the 2025-26 campaign. His situation is being monitored, with Maccabi Netanya exploring the possibility of a deal for a player whose current market valuation stands at around €600,000.
Sheffield United signed Nwachukwu from Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv in February 2025 for a fee of €1.2 million after his performances in Bulgaria’s efbet Liga, where he registered four goals and two assists in 26 league appearances. He also gained experience in European competition with a goal and an assist in Europa League qualifying during his time there.
Before moving to England, Nwachukwu collected silverware in Bulgaria, winning the Bulgarian Cup with Botev Plovdiv in the 2023-24 season. Born in Abeokuta and standing at 1.69m, he operates predominantly as a left-sided attacker but prefers to play off his right foot.
With one year gone on his Sheffield United deal and a recent loan spell completed, the Yorkshire club are yet to clarify whether Nwachukwu will be part of their Championship plans or made available, as Maccabi Netanya consider whether to formalise their interest.
