Sofian Kiyine: Morocco-Belgium midfielder joins Olympic Charleroi on free transfer

Morocco-Belgium midfielder Sofian Kiyine has joined Olympic Charleroi on a free transfer from fellow Belgian side Stockay. The 28-year-old moves up a division into the 1ste Nationale FFA, having spent the first half of the year with the 2de Nationale FFA club.

Kiyine arrives in Charleroi with extensive experience in Italy and Belgium, primarily as a central midfielder. Born in Verviers and standing at 1.82m, he is a right-footed player who has featured in both Serie A and Serie B during his career. The deal was completed on 17 July 2026.

Before returning to Belgium, Kiyine had spells with Lazio, Chievo Verona, Salernitana, Venezia and Foggia, building a substantial resume in Italian football. He made 70 appearances in Serie B, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists, and featured 56 times in Serie A. In Belgium’s top flight, he previously played for OH Leuven, registering two goals and three assists in 27 Jupiler Pro League outings.

Kiyine joined Stockay in January 2026 after leaving Italian side Triestina, where he had signed the previous year following a stint with OH Leuven and a loan at Foggia. His earlier development included time in the youth systems of Standard Liege and Chievo, as well as a productive period in Primavera B, where he scored 13 goals in 34 matches.

The midfielder is now officially an Olympic Charleroi player after completing his free transfer from Stockay.
