Eyad El Askalany: Egyptian left-back joins Pyramids FC on loan from Rostov

Egypt defender Eyad El Askalany has joined Pyramids FC on loan from Russian side Rostov. The 21-year-old left-back arrives on a temporary deal for the 2026-27 season, returning to his home country after a spell in the Russian Premier Liga.

El Askalany, born in Ismailia and left-footed, is under contract at Pyramids FC until 30 June 2027 as part of the move. The loan agreement sees him depart Rostov two years after leaving Egyptian side Ismaily for the Russian club.

He initially stepped up to Ismaily’s first team from their U21 ranks in July 2023 before earning a transfer to Rostov in February 2024. That move to Russia was completed for a fee of €920,000, reflecting the defender’s rapid rise from domestic youth football to a major European league.

During his time with Rostov, El Askalany featured in the Russian Premier Liga and Russian Cup, gaining experience in both domestic league and knockout competition. Across his senior career so far, he has appeared in league football in both Egypt and Russia, recording over 10 top-flight games and contributing an assist while primarily operating at left-back.

Standing at 1.79m, El Askalany now links up with Pyramids FC as they strengthen their defensive options for the new Egyptian Premier League campaign. The agreement includes a scheduled return to Rostov at the end of the loan on 30 June 2027.
