Wissem Chaouali: Tunisia defender returns to Stade Tunisien from Al-Ettifaq
Tunisia centre-back Wissem Chaouali has rejoined Stade Tunisien from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in a completed move for the 2026-27 season. The 19-year-old defender has signed a contract with the Tunis club running until 30 June 2029.
Chaouali heads back to Stade Tunisien two years after leaving their youth ranks for Al-Ettifaq’s academy. He progressed into the Saudi club’s senior set-up in 2025 before spending part of last season on loan at Al-Jubail, where he made seven appearances in the Saudi First Division League.
The Tunisian, who specialises at centre-back, has seen his market value rise to €25,000 on the back of his spell in Saudi Arabia, during which he also featured in domestic cup competition. His return gives Stade Tunisien a young defensive option with recent experience of first-team football abroad.
Chaouali originally joined Al-Ettifaq from Stade Tunisien’s under-19 side in September 2024 and stepped up to the senior squad the following summer. His latest move marks his first senior contract in Tunisian Ligue 1 and ties him to Stade Tunisien for the next three seasons.
The transfer was completed on 16 July 2026, confirming Chaouali’s switch from Al-Ettifaq to Stade Tunisien ahead of the new campaign.
