Victor Nzubechi Romanus: Nigerian midfielder leaves Norrkoping to become free agent

Nigerian midfielder Victor Nzubechi Romanus has left Swedish side Norrkoping and become a free agent after his departure was finalised on 16 July 2026.

The 20-year-old, who operates in midfield, exits the Superettan club just four months after arriving from Czech outfit C. Budejovice B. His move to Norrkoping in March 2026 was completed on a free transfer, but he will now look for a new team following the end of his stint in Sweden.

Romanus was born on 19 June 2006 and has spent the early part of his career moving through European football after starting out in Nigeria. Before heading to Sweden, he joined C. Budejovice B from Abia U20 in September 2025, making the switch from youth football in his home country to the Czech game.

The midfielder’s time at Norrkoping placed him within a Superettan environment, adding experience in a second European league before his release. His club status is now listed as without a team, leaving him available to sign elsewhere ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.

Romanus, who holds Nigerian nationality and is listed primarily as a central midfielder, will now continue his search for the next step in his professional career after his contract with Norrkoping came to an end.
