Sakariya Hassan: Somalia-born Dutch midfielder joins Hampton & Richmond Borough on free transfer

Somalia-born Dutch attacking midfielder Sakariya Hassan has joined Hampton & Richmond Borough from Wealdstone on a free transfer. The 25-year-old moves across the National League system to link up with the National League South side after one season with the Stones.

Hassan, who is comfortable with both feet and stands at 1.75m, arrives with experience of the fifth tier and a reputation for creativity in the final third. He is listed with a market value of around €50,000, underlining his status as a notable capture at this level.

Last season he featured for Wealdstone in the National League, making 23 league appearances and contributing one goal and four assists. He also impressed in the National League Cup, scoring twice in just two games, while adding further minutes in the FA Cup.

Hassan had joined Wealdstone in July 2025, again on a free transfer, after spells in non-league football with Hashtag United and Sudbury. His senior pathway has largely been built in the lower reaches of the English game following an early stint at Saffron Walden.

Earlier in his career, Hassan spent time in youth set-ups at QPR and Tottenham, having moved to Spurs’ youth ranks in 2017 after a brief period without a club. Subsequent moves through Hornchurch, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge and Barking gave him regular competitive football before he stepped back up the pyramid.

Hassan’s switch from Wealdstone to Hampton & Richmond Borough, completed as a free transfer on 16 July 2026, strengthens the Borough’s attacking options ahead of the new National League South campaign.
