Sega Keita: Mauritania-French midfielder joins US Chauvigny on free transfer

US Chauvigny have signed Mauritania-French midfielder Sega Keita from Hyeres 83 on a free transfer. The 21-year-old central midfielder moves into National 2 Group B after spending last season with the National 1 Group C side.

Paris-born Keita, who stands at 1.84m and plays predominantly in central midfield, joins Chauvigny after a year at Hyeres 83, whom he had also joined on a free from Italian club Gravina in 2025. His switch continues a rapid rise through French and Italian systems for a player still in the early stages of his senior career.

Keita’s most extensive run of games so far came in Italy with Padova’s under-19s, where he featured regularly in the Primavera 2 competition and scored three goals, adding two assists across 26 appearances. He also gained senior experience in Serie D with Gravina, making 10 league appearances and providing two assists, as well as featuring in the Coppa Serie D.

Before moving to Italy in 2023, Keita developed in the Paris region with Red Star and JA Drancy’s youth teams, then US Torcy at under-18 level, giving him grounding in both French and Italian football cultures. He has operated almost exclusively in central midfield and is right-footed.

Keita, whose previous highest recorded market valuation was €50,000, joins Chauvigny as a free agent following the expiry of his deal with Hyeres 83, with the transfer officially completed on 16 July 2026.
