Cheick Conde: Guinea midfielder leaves Venezia to become a free agent

Guinea defensive midfielder Cheick Conde has left Italian side Venezia and become a free agent after his contract with the Serie A club came to an end.

The 25-year-old, born in Conakry and standing at 1.85m, departs Venezia having joined them from FC Zurich in January 2025 for €2m. He most recently spent part of last season on loan at Austrian Bundesliga club Blau-Weiss Linz before returning to Italy at the end of that spell.

Conde, a right-footed holding midfielder, is now without a club as he looks for the next step in a career that has already taken in top-flight football in several European countries. His current market value is listed at €700,000.

Before moving to Italy, Conde established himself at FC Zurich following a transfer from Czech side Trinity Zlin in 2022. In Switzerland he featured in the Super League and gained experience in European competition, including outings in Europa League qualifiers and Champions League qualifying rounds.

Across his club career he has accumulated more than 150 senior appearances in league and cup competitions, including games in Serie A, the Swiss Super League, the Austrian Bundesliga and Czech domestic football, as well as in UEFA tournaments.

Conde originally moved to the Czech Republic in 2019, joining MAS Taborsko from FC Sequence and then stepping up to Fastav Zlin later that season, a period that provided his first sustained run of senior minutes in European football.

The Guinea midfielder’s latest move formally records his departure from Venezia and confirms his status as a free agent ahead of the new season.
