South African midfielder Njabulo Blom set for Borneo FC switch
South African midfielder Njabulo Blom is on the verge of completing a move to Indonesian top-flight side Borneo FC Samarinda after departing as a free agent, with the transfer expected to usher in a new chapter in his career.
Blom has already left to finalize the move and is expected to complete the remaining formalities before officially joining the Liga 1 club ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old will arrive in Indonesia without a transfer fee after becoming a free agent.
The move marks another significant step in Blom’s career, which has seen him feature in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League, Major League Soccer in the United States, and most recently in Asia.
Blom rose through the ranks at Kaizer Chiefs, establishing himself as one of South Africa’s most reliable midfielders before securing a move to St. Louis City SC in Major League Soccer in 2022. His energetic displays, defensive discipline and versatility earned him recognition both domestically and internationally.
Borneo FC are expected to benefit from Blom’s experience as they continue strengthening their squad for the upcoming Indonesian Liga 1 campaign. The Samarinda-based club has been active in the transfer market as it looks to challenge for domestic honours.
For Blom, the switch represents a fresh opportunity to revive his career in one of Southeast Asia’s most competitive leagues, bringing valuable experience gained from spells in South Africa, the United States and Asia.
An official announcement from Borneo FC is expected once all contractual formalities have been completed.
