Khomotso Marebane: Marumo eye move for Casric Stars and South African midfielder

Khomotso Marebane, the South African central midfielder currently at Casric Stars, is being linked with a move to Betway Premiership side Marumo as the top-flight club look to bolster their options in the middle of the park.

The 29-year-old, born in Burgersfort in Limpopo, joined Casric Stars from University of Pretoria on 1 August 2025 and has since established himself in the second-tier side’s midfield. His performances have attracted interest from Marumo, who are exploring a deal to bring him into the Premiership ahead of the new campaign.

Marebane has featured regularly in domestic cup competition, making 14 appearances in the Nedbank Cup and playing over 1,000 minutes in the tournament, underlining his status as a consistent selection in knockout fixtures. He has also been trusted in high-stakes situations, turning out in promotion-relegation play-offs, where he has completed three full matches.

A right-footed central midfielder standing at 1.78m, Marebane has built his career in South African football with spells at Jomo Cosmos, TS Galaxy, Pretoria Callies and University of Pretoria before his switch to Casric Stars. His pathway through the divisions and experience in tense end-of-season play-offs are understood to be key factors in Marumo’s interest.

Marebane’s current deal at Casric Stars has not been publicly detailed, and it remains unclear whether Marumo would need to negotiate a transfer fee or seek a different arrangement to secure his services, with talks yet to progress to an advanced stage.
