Belgian giants battle for Moroccan goal machine Tawfik Bentayeb

Moroccan forward Tawfik Bentayeb has emerged as one of the most sought-after attackers in Belgium, with three Belgian Pro League clubs reportedly pushing to secure his signature ahead of the new season.

According to Sudinfo, Union Saint-Gilloise, Standard Liège and Anderlecht have all expressed interest in the 24-year-old striker, who currently belongs to Rabat-based side Union Touarga Sport.

Bentayeb’s impressive performances during loan spells in France have significantly increased his market value, attracting attention from some of Belgium’s biggest clubs.

Union Saint-Gilloise have already made an offer believed to be around €3.5 million, although Union Touarga are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to €8 million.

The Moroccan attacker is said to be open to a move to Belgium, with reports suggesting Standard Liège is his preferred destination should a transfer materialise.

Troyes spell boosts Bentayeb’s profile

Bentayeb has spent the last two seasons developing his game in French football, where his performances have helped establish him as a reliable goalscorer.

After scoring 14 goals in 49 appearances for Union Touarga Sport, the striker moved to France for the 2024/25 season, joining Rodez on loan. He quickly adapted to the challenge, finding the net 11 times in 30 matches.

His biggest breakthrough came during his time at Troyes, where he produced a remarkable campaign. Bentayeb scored 20 goals in 31 appearances, including 18 goals in Ligue 2, playing a key role as Troyes secured promotion to Ligue 1.

His goal-scoring form has now placed him on the radar of several European clubs, with Belgian sides viewing him as a potential attacking solution ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Belgian trio compete for Moroccan forward

Union Saint-Gilloise, Standard Liège and Anderlecht are all looking to strengthen their attacking options, but the competition for Bentayeb’s signature could depend on whether any club is willing to meet Union Touarga’s valuation.

The striker’s combination of physical presence, finishing ability and recent experience in European football has made him an attractive prospect.
