Thuto Mojanaga: Dutch-South African Almere City midfielder linked with PEC Zwolle move

Dutch-South African midfielder Thuto Mojanaga of Almere City U23 is being linked with a move to Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle, with the top-flight club monitoring the 19-year-old’s progress in the Dutch lower divisions.

Mojanaga, a central midfielder who represents Almere City’s U23 set-up in the Tweede Divisie, has attracted attention after breaking into senior men’s football this season. He has featured in the Tweede Divisie and registered an assist in seven appearances, adding to minutes built up across youth competitions in the Netherlands.

PEC Zwolle are understood to be exploring options to add depth in central midfield and have identified Mojanaga as a potential recruit from within the domestic system. Any deal would see the teenager step up from the third tier to the Eredivisie, having only joined Almere City U23 on a free transfer from Feyenoord’s U19s in July 2025.

Born on 3 February 2007, Mojanaga holds both Netherlands and South Africa nationality and has come through youth systems at PEC and Feyenoord after an earlier spell with SuperSport’s youth ranks. His recent transition from under-19 football into the Tweede Divisie has provided his first sustained exposure to senior-level competition.

Mojanaga is currently contracted to Almere City’s U23 side, with PEC Zwolle weighing up whether to move for the right-footed central midfielder following his initial impact in the Dutch lower leagues.
