Mohamed Ammar: Egypt defender joins El Mokawloon from Ismaily in €104k move

Egyptian centre-back Mohamed Ammar has joined El Mokawloon from Ismaily in a permanent transfer worth €104,000. The 26-year-old has signed a contract with the Premier League side until 30 June 2029.

Ammar, a right-footed defender standing at 1.82m, strengthens El Mokawloon’s options at the heart of defence as they prepare for the new campaign. The move keeps him in the Egyptian top flight, with both clubs competing in the Premier League.

The switch ends Ammar’s long association with Ismaily, where he progressed from the youth ranks to the first team. He was promoted from Ismaily SC’s U21 set-up in 2019 and went on to establish himself in senior football over several seasons.

Across league, cup and play-off competitions, Ammar has accumulated more than 90 senior appearances, including 72 in the Premier League. He has scored three league goals and added two more in the Egypt Cup, underlining his occasional threat from set pieces in addition to his defensive duties.

Ammar’s most recent seasons have also included nine appearances in relegation play-offs and outings in the Egyptian League Cup, giving him experience of high-pressure domestic fixtures. His current market value is listed at €250,000, with El Mokawloon securing him for a fee below that mark.

The defender officially joined El Mokawloon on 15 July 2026 and will remain under contract with the club until the summer of 2029.
