Mouhoub Nait Merabet: Algeria-born playmaker leaves Chiangmai United and becomes free agent
Algeria-born attacking midfielder Mouhoub Nait Merabet has left Thai League 2 side Chiangmai United and is now a free agent after his contract with the club came to an end. The 33-year-old, who also holds French nationality, departs the Thai outfit with his market value currently listed at around €50,000.
Nait Merabet joined Chiangmai United in July 2025 on a free transfer from French side Aubervilliers and went on to play regularly in Thailand’s second tier. He featured 23 times in the league for Chiangmai United, scoring once and providing two assists during his time in Thai League 2. His exit means he is now available to sign for a new club without a transfer fee.
The midfielder, who stands at 1.80m and plays predominantly as an attacking midfielder, has built a varied career across several countries and competitions. Before moving to Thailand, he spent five years in France, Tunisia, Algeria, Germany and the United States, taking in spells at clubs including JS Kabylie, CS Sfaxien, Rot Weiss Ahlen and FC Miami City.
Earlier in his career, Nait Merabet had a brief taste of top-flight European football, making appearances in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. He also gained experience in continental and domestic cup competitions in North Africa and Europe, as well as lower-tier leagues in Germany and France.
Nait Merabet officially left Chiangmai United on 15 July 2026 and is now without a club following the completion of his latest contract.
