Karim Adeyemi lands in Barcelona for medical as transfer from Dortmund nears competition

Karim Adeyemi has arrived in Barcelona as the German forward closes in on his expected transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the reigning LaLiga champions.

The 24-year-old German international of Nigerian descent was spotted in the Catalan capital ahead of the final formalities of a move that will make him Barcelona’s latest attacking addition this summer.

Adeyemi’s arrival follows the club’s statement of intent in the transfer market, with Barcelona already completing the €80 million signing of Anthony Gordon. The Dortmund forward is now set to become the second major attacking reinforcement for Hansi Flick’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

Barcelona agree €29m package with Dortmund

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement worth €22 million in guaranteed fees, with a further €7 million available through performance-related add-ons.

The deal will also see Dortmund retain a 20 percent sell-on clause for Adeyemi’s future transfer.

Once Barcelona made their interest known, Adeyemi was reportedly clear about his preference, choosing Flick’s side as his next destination. The forward has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2031.

Although the transfer is effectively completed, Barcelona are expected to wait before officially unveiling their new signing.

The club plans to present Adeyemi next week after president Joan Laporta returns from the United States, where he is currently accompanying the Spanish national team during the final stages of the World Cup.

Flick gets a familiar attacking weapon

Adeyemi’s move reunites him with Flick, who worked with the forward during his time as Germany head coach.

The Barcelona manager is believed to admire Adeyemi’s explosive pace, direct style of play and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations — attributes the club identified as key additions to its attacking department.

The German winger is expected to join Barcelona’s preparations immediately, with the club keen for him to integrate into Flick’s system as quickly as possible.

The former Red Bull Salzburg player arrives at Camp Nou after establishing himself as an important figure at Dortmund, where his speed and attacking versatility made him one of the Bundesliga side’s most dangerous offensive threats.

With his medical, contract and final paperwork expected to be completed shortly, Adeyemi’s Barcelona chapter is now only hours away from officially beginning.
