Joseph Ekuban: Ghana-Italian forward becomes free agent after Renate exit
Ghanaian-Italian striker Joseph Ekuban has left Renate and become a free agent after his contract with the Serie C side came to an end on 15 July 2026.
The 26-year-old centre-forward departs the club following a short spell in Serie C – A, having joined Renate from Latina Calcio in January 2026. His move into free agency opens the door for the right-footed attacker to seek a new challenge ahead of the coming campaign.
Born in Villafranca di Verona and standing at 1.85m, Ekuban has built his career largely in Italy’s lower divisions. He has made more than 140 appearances in Serie C across its three groups, scoring in double figures and adding several assists while leading the line through the middle.
Before his time at Renate and Latina, Ekuban featured for Turris and Arezzo, also in Serie C, and earlier in his career was on the books of Hellas Verona after progressing through their youth ranks. He has experience of both league and cup football in Italy, as well as brief spells in Serie D.
Ekuban also spent time abroad with FK Partizani in Albania, where he collected an Albanian Super Cup winners’ medal in the 2019-20 season. That stint included appearances in domestic competition as well as qualifying rounds in European tournaments.
With his market value most recently assessed at €150,000, Ekuban now leaves Renate and is officially without a club following the conclusion of his latest deal on a free transfer.
