Fiston Mayele: DR Congo striker linked with move to Libya’s Al-Ahli
DR Congo centre-forward Fiston Mayele, currently a free agent after leaving Pyramids FC, is being linked with a move to Libyan Premier League side Al-Ahli. The 32-year-old, who has a listed market value of €1.8 million, has been without a club since 1 July but is attracting interest following another prolific season in African competition.
Mayele departed Egyptian giants Pyramids FC this summer after a decorated spell in Cairo, where he helped the club win the CAF Champions League in 2024-25 and added the CAF Super Cup and domestic cup honours in the 2025-26 campaign. Discussions over his next destination are understood to be at an early stage, but Al-Ahli are exploring the possibility of bringing the striker to Libya on a free transfer.
The forward has built a reputation as a reliable goalscorer on the continent, hitting 26 goals in 48 CAF Champions League appearances and finishing as the competition’s top scorer in the 2024-25 season. He also struck three times in three matches at the 2025-26 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, where he again finished as leading marksman.
Most recently, Mayele featured at the 2026 World Cup, scoring once in two appearances for DR Congo. His availability without a transfer fee, combined with his record in African club competitions, has made him an appealing target for sides seeking proven attacking output.
For now, Mayele remains unattached after his contract at Pyramids FC came to an end earlier this month, leaving him free to negotiate with Al-Ahli and other interested clubs.
