Celton Biai: Guinea-Bissau and Portugal goalkeeper linked with Excelsior move from FC Dordrecht

Guinea-Bissau and Portugal goalkeeper Celton Biai of FC Dordrecht is being linked with a move to Eredivisie side Excelsior as the Rotterdam club assess options to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

Biai, 25, is under contract at Dordrecht until 30 June 2027 but his situation is attracting interest within the Netherlands, with Excelsior understood to be monitoring a potential deal ahead of the new campaign. The Dordrecht keeper currently carries a market valuation of around €550,000, a figure that is likely to shape any negotiations between the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club and their top-flight counterparts.

Dordrecht signed Biai on a free transfer from Vitoria Guimaraes in January 2024, giving the Lisbon-born stopper a platform to establish himself in Dutch football. His performances since that mid-season switch have placed him on the radar of clubs higher up the domestic pyramid as Excelsior look toward the Eredivisie season.

Biai came through the youth ranks at Benfica before moving to Guimaraes, progressing from their under-23 side to the first team set-up. Internationally, he has been involved in Portuguese youth football, winning the Torneio Internacional Algarve U17 with Portugal’s under-17s in 2017, and is also eligible for Guinea-Bissau.

With two years remaining on his Dordrecht contract, the Dutch second-tier side are under no immediate pressure to sell, and any move to Excelsior would require agreement between the clubs before the transfer can advance.
