Jonas Idris: Eritrean-Danish left-back joins Fremad Amager on free transfer

Eritrean-Danish defender Jonas Idris has joined Fremad Amager on a free transfer from Hellerup IK, strengthening the 2.Division side’s options at left-back. The 21-year-old completes the move within the same tier of Danish football after half a season with Hellerup.

Idris, a left-footed full-back who stands at 1.81m, arrives at Fremad Amager having already tasted action across both the Danish third and second tiers. He featured in the 3.Division and its promotion phase as well as the 2.Division and the Betano Pokalen, gaining experience in league and cup competitions despite his young age.

The defender first came through youth systems at some well-known Danish setups, including FCK’s youth ranks, before progressing via SJF Youth and SønderjyskE’s U19 side. A move to HB Køge U19 in 2023 was followed by his first senior steps at Brønshøj BK in 2024, also on a free transfer, marking his transition from youth to men’s football.

From Brønshøj, Idris switched to FC Helsingør in the summer of 2025, again without a fee, before a brief spell without a club later that year. He then joined Hellerup IK in January 2026, earning his way back into the 2.Division and doing enough there to secure this latest move.

Across his youth and early senior career, Idris has accumulated more than 70 competitive appearances, including almost 3,000 minutes at U19 level and further game time in Denmark’s lower leagues and cup competition. Fremad Amager’s acquisition of Idris is a permanent free transfer from league rivals Hellerup IK.
