Norwich eye move for Ghana midfielder Lawrence Agyekum from Cercle Brugge

Norwich City are exploring a move for Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum, who currently plays for Cercle Brugge in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League. The 22-year-old central midfielder is under contract with the Bruges club until 30 June 2029 but has emerged as a target for the Championship side this summer.

Agyekum has established himself in Belgium’s top flight, making 53 league appearances for Cercle Brugge and gaining further experience in relegation play-offs and domestic cup competition. His current market valuation stands at around €1.5m, a figure likely to shape any negotiations between the clubs.

Norwich’s interest comes a year after Cercle made Agyekum’s stay permanent, paying a reported €800,000 to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg on 1 July 2025 following a successful loan spell. Before moving to Belgium, he featured regularly in Austria’s 2. Liga with FC Liefering and had brief Bundesliga exposure with Salzburg, with whom he won the Austrian league title in the 2022-23 season.

Agyekum has also collected minutes in European competition, including the UEFA Youth League, Europa League qualifying and the Europa Conference League, adding continental experience to a career that began in his homeland with WAFA SC. His preferred position is in central midfield and he operates predominantly on his right foot.

With four years remaining on his Cercle Brugge deal, the Belgian club are under no pressure to sell, and any approach from Norwich would need to reflect his long-term contract and growing resume in European football.
