Emmanuel Iyoha: Germany-Nigeria winger linked with 1.FC Magdeburg move

Emmanuel Iyoha, the Germany-Nigeria right winger currently without a club, is being linked with a move to 2. Bundesliga side 1.FC Magdeburg. The 28-year-old, a free agent since leaving Fortuna Dusseldorf this summer, is understood to be under consideration as Magdeburg look to add experience and depth in wide attacking areas ahead of the new campaign.

Iyoha has built a substantial body of work in Germany’s second tier, making more than 200 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and scoring 20 goals with 15 assists. His profile as a 1.93m winger capable of operating off the right and using both feet is seen as a potential tactical asset for a Magdeburg side aiming to consolidate their position in the division.

Born in Dusseldorf and developed through the city’s youth system after an early spell at Bayer Leverkusen’s academy, Iyoha progressed from Fortuna’s under-17 and under-19 teams into the senior set-up, including loan spells with Erzgebirge Aue, Holstein Kiel and VfL Osnabruck. His most consistent impact has come in the 2. Bundesliga, where his minutes and output have established him as a familiar figure at that level.

Magdeburg’s interest also reflects the market context, with Iyoha’s current valuation around €800,000 but no transfer fee required due to his free-agent status. That combination of cost and experience is thought to make him an accessible target as clubs move into the decisive phase of their summer squad building.

Iyoha has been officially unattached since 1 July 2026 after his long association with Fortuna Dusseldorf came to an end, leaving him free to negotiate with interested clubs.
