Hamza Mouali: Algerian left-back joins Olympique Akbou from JS Kabylie on long-term deal

Algerian defender Hamza Mouali has joined Olympique Akbou from JS Kabylie, with the 28-year-old left-back signing a contract until 30 June 2028.

The move keeps Mouali in Ligue 1 and brings an experienced, title-winning full-back to Akbou’s back line. The transfer is a permanent switch and follows a short spell at JS Kabylie, whom he joined on a free transfer from MC Algiers in August 2025.

Mouali, a left-footer who can operate consistently down the flank, arrives with extensive experience in Algerian football. He has played more than 180 top-flight matches, scoring nine goals and providing 16 assists in Ligue 1, and has featured in domestic cup competitions as well as both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The defender enjoyed the most successful spell of his career at MC Algiers, where he became a key figure and helped the club secure back-to-back Algerian league titles in 2023-24 and 2024-25, as well as the Algerian Super Cup in 2024-25. That success followed his earlier development at Paradou AC, where he progressed from the youth ranks into senior football before brief time in France with Stade Lavallois on loan.

Born in El Mouradia and standing at 1.77m, Mouali was with JS Saoura on loan during the 2025-26 campaign before returning to JS Kabylie at the end of that spell.

Mouali now begins a new chapter with Olympique Akbou, who have secured him on a deal running through to the end of the 2027-28 season.
