Babacar Diop: Senegal striker returns to Dogan TBSK on free transfer
Senegalese centre-forward Babacar Diop has rejoined Dogan TBSK on a free transfer from Cihangir GSK, sealing a permanent move back to the club at the age of 32. The experienced attacker, who stands at 1.90m and plays primarily through the middle, has signed after his contract with Cihangir expired.
Diop’s switch marks a second spell with Dogan TBSK, having first arrived there in 2019 before earning a move to Finnish side TPS the following year. His latest transfer continues a career that has seen him feature across multiple leagues, including top-flight and cup football in Turkey and Finland, as well as spells in Oman and Cyprus.
Born in Dakar on 21 October 1993, Diop has built a reputation as a physically imposing forward. During his time in Finland he registered four goals in eight Ykkosliiga appearances for AC Kajaani, averaging just over a goal every 106 minutes, and added further strikes in the Turkish Cup while on the books at Kayserispor earlier in his career. Those contributions highlighted his ability to impact games despite often limited playing time.
Diop joined Cihangir GSK in 2022 after a period without a club and now heads back to Dogan TBSK on another free transfer as the club reshapes its attacking options. The move sees the Senegalese forward once again registered with the Cypriot side ahead of the new campaign.
