Benny-Jackson Luyeye: Scottish-Ivorian winger joins Peterhead after spell without club

Scottish-Ivorian midfielder Benny-Jackson Luyeye has joined Peterhead, ending a brief spell without a club and returning to senior football in Scotland with the League One side.

The 21-year-old right-sided midfielder arrives as a free agent after leaving East Kilbride in 2025 and spending last season unattached. He completed his move on 14 July 2026, adding depth on the flank for Peterhead ahead of the new campaign.

Glasgow-born Luyeye, who is comfortable on the right of midfield and prefers his right foot, is yet to feature in the current Scottish League Cup campaign, with Peterhead’s opening group-stage fixture having passed without him making an appearance. His early involvement is expected to come in domestic cup and league action as he integrates into the squad.

Luyeye’s career has largely been forged in Scotland. He progressed through the ranks at Celtic, stepping up from the club’s under-18 side to Celtic B in 2022. He left the Parkhead setup in the summer of 2024 and later that year joined East Kilbride, before moving on again when his time there came to an end the following summer.

The move to Peterhead represents a return to professional league structures for Luyeye after his time outside the SPFL system, with the winger now registered for the 2026-27 season with the League One club.

Luyeye’s transfer to Peterhead is a completed free move from unattached status, confirmed on 14 July 2026.
