Mahmoud Shabana: Egypt defender joins Talaea El Gaish on free transfer from Ittihad Alexandria

Egyptian centre-back Mahmoud Shabana has joined Talaea El Gaish on a free transfer from Ittihad Alexandria, signing a deal until 30 June 2028.

The 31-year-old right-footed defender makes the move after spending the recent campaigns in the Egyptian Premier League, where he has built a reputation as a consistent presence at the back. His arrival gives El Gaish an experienced option in central defence ahead of the new season.

Shabana leaves Ittihad Alexandria three years after first moving there from Zamalek, initially on loan before the switch was made permanent. During his time in the top flight he has amassed 130 league appearances, scoring five goals and adding one assist, as well as featuring regularly in domestic cup and relegation play-off matches.

Born in Domyat and standing at 1.82m, Shabana has spent his entire professional career in Egyptian football. Before his stint with Ittihad he had spells with Zamalek and Smouha, following earlier moves through Aswan SC, FC Masr, Enppi SC, Alassiouty SC and Petrojet.

With his contract at Talaea El Gaish running to 2028, Shabana’s switch from Ittihad Alexandria is confirmed as a long-term free transfer within the Egyptian Premier League.
