Ahmed Bouassida: US Monastir eye move for Esperance and Tunisia forward

Ahmed Bouassida, the Tunisian centre-forward currently at Esperance, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 rivals US Monastir as the coastal club explore options to strengthen their attack. The 22-year-old, valued at around €275,000, is under contract with the Tunis giants until 30 June 2029, meaning any deal would require agreement with Esperance rather than a cut‐price exit.

Bouassida only joined Esperance last summer from ES Metlaoui and spent part of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at AS Soliman before returning to his parent club at the end of the season. His combination of stature – he stands at 1.92m – and experience in the Tunisian top flight has attracted attention within Ligue 1, with Monastir among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Across his time in the domestic league, Bouassida has made more than 50 Ligue 1 appearances, registering nine goals and three assists, while also featuring in the Tunisian Cup and briefly in the CAF Champions League. He was part of the Esperance side that lifted the Tunisian Super Cup in 2025, adding silverware early in his spell with the club.

Esperance are not under immediate pressure to sell given the length of Bouassida’s deal and his status as a relatively young attacking option tied to the club for another three years. Any discussions with US Monastir are therefore expected to focus on whether a transfer fee can be found that persuades Esperance to part with a player they moved quickly to secure in 2025 and brought back from loan this summer.
